چکیده
Beardsley, Robert E. (Manhattan College, Bronx, N.Y.), and Jacques Lipetz Effects of 5-fluorouracil and 5-fluorodeoxyuridine on growth and tumor-inducing ability of Agrobacterium tumefaciens. J. Bacteriol. 92:346-348. 1966.-Agrobacterium tumefaciens B6, grown in the presence of 5-fluorouracil or 5-fluodeoxyuridine, exhibited a prolonged lag phase. The tumor-inducing ability of bacteria grown in the presence of these compounds was decreased even after exposures as short as 40 min. A positive correlation was found between the growth-inhibitory effects of these compounds and their effects on the tumor-inducing ability of the bacteria.

Isolation of Agrobacterium Tumefaciens Strains from Crown Gall Disease on Imported Roses Plants in Qazvin Province
Cultivar of roses (Rosa spp.) has been grown in greenhouses in Qazvin region of Iran for local markets. Agrobacterium tumefaciens strains were isolated and identified from six different samples of roses plants imported from the Netherland to Iran. During August and September of 2012, nearly 2-5% of rose plants in two different greenhouses in the province of Qazvin were observed with crown gall ...
متن کاملAntitumor properties of two traditional aromatic rice genotypes (Kalijira and Chinigura)
Objective: Methanol extract of bran and unpolished grain of two traditional aromatic rice genotypes viz. Kalijira and Chinigura were assayed for their activity on the growth and initiation of crown-gall tumors on potato disks. Materials and Methods: Three Agrobacterium tumefaciens (A. tumefaciens) strain AtSl0105, AtTa0112, and AtAc0114 were used as the tumor forming agent. Collected rice was s...
متن کاملTEACHING TOOLS IN PLANT BIOLOGYTM: LECTURE NOTES A Really Useful Pathogen, Agrobacterium tumefaciens
Bacteria of the genus Agrobacterium are very useful and unusual plant pathogens. Through a rare interkingdom DNA transfer, the bacteria move some of their genes into their host’s genome, thereby inducing the host cells to proliferate. The result is uncontrolled cell growth leading to a tumor (as induced by Agrobacterium tumefaciens and Agrobacterium vitis) or excessive production of roots (as i...
متن کاملQuantitative aspects of transformation of virulence in Agrobacterium tumefaciens.
In the last decade, a number of bacterial species were shown to possess the ability to transmit morphological and biochemical characters to deficient strains. Tumor-inducing ability or virulence in crown-gall bacteria is such a biochemical character, and the acquisition of virulence is here taken to be the acquisition by avirulent strains of bacteria of the ability to synthesize a tumor-inducin...
متن کاملGenotypic variability of soybean response to agrobacterium strains harboring the ti or ri plasmids.
Twenty four diverse cultivars of soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merrill) and three lines of its annual wild progenitor Glycine soja Sieb and Zucc. were tested for their response to Agrobacterium strains harboring either the Ti (tumor-inducing) plasmid (pTi) from Agrobacterium tumefaciens or the Ri (root-inducing) plasmid (pRi) from Agrobacterium rhizogenes following uniform wounding and inoculation....
